"I had referred patients to Rockwood Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy for years, finding their diagnostics superior and their treatment able to get patients in and out of therapy within a reasonable period of time, particularly after a motor vehicle accident. I also found myself on the other side, as a patient twice, once with a painful back injury and the other with my neck. Again, the diagnosis was accurate, treatment tailored to my specific needs, and pain markedly relieved after a single session. Thankfully I was able to return to full activity within weeks."

"Dealing with undiagnosed or misdiagnosed pain for twelve years, having seen every type of specialist from orthopedics to kinesiologists, from physical therapists to physiatrists, I was led in 1994 to John Bonica at Rockwood Manual Therapy Clinic.  It was the remarkable ability John had to diagnose the underlying cause of my pain so promptly and accurately that first amazed me, but what was truly astonishing is how quickly he was able to bring about consistent reduction in my pain level with each treatment.  In the first three treatments I was able to sleep for the first time in 12 years without packing myself in ice, and was actually able to sleep through the night.  It was still many weeks of therapy before I was able to walk for any distance without pain, but with his skill, insight, creativity, and technology unique to John's clinic I was soon able to resume a normal active life.

Any time I have experienced a sports injury or recovery from surgery, I have time and again relied on John's expertise to bring about reduction of inflammation, correction, healing and resolution to complex issues which were causing me pain and suffering.  I am thankful for John's expertise, his ability to really listen to his patients, his ability to diagnose so accurately, his ability to treat so effectively and in addition to all this, impart his wisdom and abilities to his capable staff. "I was referred to Rockwood Orthopaedic and Physical Therapy Clinic as part of my rehabilitation following a low back injury. I had been receiving conservative chiropractic care for about a month prior to that, but without much progress. I was reluctantly beginning to think I may require surgery, and I was feeling a bit hopeless about my prospects for a decent night's sleep, or throwing the ball with my son ever again. I had tried many things I am familiar with as a medical professional, including traditional and non-traditional therapies, all with minimal benefit.

Enter the close-knit team at Rockwood. The environment there is very welcoming and personal. The crew has worked together closely for a long time, and it shows, making for a very integrative effort during a variety of therapies at each visit. I always felt well cared for, which was important during a difficult time. More importantly, I began to make some rapid improvements within the first few times I received treatments at Rockwood. I don't know wherein the magic lies, the Mulligan technique, the micro-current stimulation, the bodywork, the heat, the interferential, the targeted exercises, tincture of time, or some combination of all of these. In any case, I am now nearly back to normal, sleeping well, out of pain, and continuing to improve.

I highly recommend Rockwood Orthopaedic and Physical Therapy Clinic."

My colleague John Bonica has been a friend of mine for more years than I care to remember.

As a physiotherapist he has unique handling skills and would be one of the best manual therapists in our profession. Apart from being a therapist he is an accomplished musician even producing his own CDs.

Patients presenting at his new clinic can be assured of the highest standards. Yes John has kept up to date and with his clinical reasoning has advanced further our knowledge base.

We are lucky to have him in our ranks
